It is wonderful to spend hours playing and practicing golf over the summer months in the sun, but if you’re serious about getting your handicap down, challenging yourself and getting better for next year, Winter time is key for your development.
From playing the full course at China Fleet to spending time on our Toptracer Driving Range, there’s so much you can do to ensure you don’t get rusty over the winter months. Plus, we’ve got our Winter League now in full swing so you can stay motivated and have some fun too.
7 Top Tips for Keeping Momentum This Winter
Yes, it may sound a bit obvious, but it’s important to keep up the momentum so you can maintain your fitness and improve your golf. Play as often as you can or when the weather allows.
Dress for the Weather
Playing at your best requires feeling comfortable and warm. Waterproofs are obviously useful for when it rains, but they also stop the wind permeating your clothing. Likewise, lots of breathable layers and wet weather gloves to keep your hands warm and dry is essential when playing golf.
Book a Lesson
The off-season is the perfect time to make changes to your game. Our Swing Fix, £10 for 15 minute quick fix coaching lessons include our 20 bay, floodlit, Toptracer Range, practice putting green, short game practice area, chipping green and club custom fit.
Analyse Stats & Set Goals
Take a look at your game this year and try to identify where you can improve, set yourself new goals and see how you can better your technique and fitness.
Make Full Use
Our Toptracer floodlit driving range is perfect to practice, have fun and learn new skills. From Arizona to Abu Dhabi, Toptracer is the most used ball tracer in the world and is revolutionizing the game of golf. Guests of all ages and handicaps will enjoy playing iconic courses such as Pebble Beach, St Andrews and Spyglass Hill, or taking aim at virtual targets and seeing if they can climb our global leaderboard.
It works by fitting cameras above the bays at the driving range to track the ball and deliver graphics on-screen. The programme allows guests to monitor every shot they hit, as well as play games and virtual golf, you can now watch your game the same way you watch your favourite pro golfers on TV. Plus, you can even have food and drink delivered to your bay so you can keep warm!
Join our Winter League on the Toptracer Range each month from November to March and play virtual courses. November is St Andrews, with 9 holes and some great prizes. No need to book, just turn up!
Introduce a friend
Another great way to stay motivated through the winter is to introduce a friend to golf. Bring them along to the Toptracer Range where they can have a go at hitting some balls, try out a virtual course and even hire a club for just £1 if they don’t have one. You can even get the children involved too as there’s a special, fun Toptracer course for them. ‘Go Fish’ allows them to play individually or as a team to catch each of the 24 different sea creatures and as many stars as possible. Even adults enjoy it too!
So don’t let winter dampen your spirits and have a tee-rific time (sorry about the pun!)
See you next week and see you at the Club soon,
