St Brides Castle

Pembrokeshire Wales

The Pembrokeshire peninsula, at the south-west corner of Wales, is an area of outstanding natural beauty and is extremely remote and unspoilt. It forms part of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park and has one of Europe's most magnificent and varied coastlines. The shore-line is traced for some 200 miles by the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path.

Leisure Facilities

The recreation centre, in the Castle, comprises a large heated indoor swimming pool, a mini gym, sauna, steam room and solarium. There is also table tennis, pool, snooker and billiards, and a library/writing room. In the grounds are 3 tennis courts, a croquet lawn, all-weather artificial bowls and a pitch and putt course. Children have an adventure playground, and there's a barbecue area nearby. Dylan's bar/bistro overlooks the bowling green. St. Brides Bay offers a safe childrens' beach nearby and those at Newgale and Broad Haven are ideal for family seaside outings. There are 18-hole golf courses at Haverfordwest and Milford Haven with concessionary rates for our guests.

Local Attractions

The local island bird sanctuaries of Skomer, Skokholm ('Skokum') and Grassholm are well worth seeing and boat trips go from Martins Haven. The sights and sounds are stunning, with puffins flying and diving round the boat and seals, gannets and Manx shearwaters often to be seen. Easy drives from St. Brides are the historic town of St. Davids, with its lovely 12th-century cathedral. Also Pembroke with its fine old Norman castle, while somewhat nearer, Haverfordwest is an attractive and bustling local market town with supermarkets and other shopping. For those who prefer the water there are cruises from Milford Haven or on the Daugleddau waterways or up river into unspoilt Pembrokeshire. Other outings for the family include the Oakwood Adventure and Leisure Park near Pembroke, the Weatherton Country Sports Park just outside Tenby or the Sealyham Activity Centre at Wolfs Castle.
