Overlooking the English Channel on the slopes above Swanage and with distant views of the Needles and the Isle of Wight, Langton House is on the edge of Purbeck village of Langton Matravers, and is thus a convenient base from which to explore the south of Dorset and beyond. It stands in 15 acres of ground and is surrounded by National Trust land.

Leisure Facilities

The spacious Clubhouse accommodates an information room with free video library, billiards room (3/4 size table), family games room with table tennis, bar billiards and football machine – all free of charge. Within the 15 acres of grounds are tennis courts and all weather bowling green, 9-hole pitch and putt course, croquet, outside play equipment for children under 5, and a separate swimming pool building which houses a heated 12x5 metre pool and sauna.

Local Attractions

Swanage itself has plenty of history, Athelhampton House and garden, Hardy’s Cottage, and TE Lawrence’s Clouds Hill are within easy driving, and Corfe and Lulworth Castles and Smedmore House even closer. Further a-field try Bovington’s Tank Museum and Compton House Butterfly Farm near Yeovil. Wimborne Minster and nearby Kingston Lacy with its “Old Masters” and red Devon cattle. Stourhead House and gardens, Parham, near Beaminster. Windsurfing is available locally as is deep sea diving. During the summer months there is a good selection of local cruises to Brownsea Island, Bournemouth and around the islands to Poole Harbour. Sea fishing trips are also available. Within easy driving distance of Langton there is a good selection of golf courses.
